Cpl. Perkins Funeral set for Sunday Daviess County man was killed in action in Korea last April The body of a Daviess County soldier killed in action in Korea is being returned here for burial. Funeral services for Cpl. Jesse Leon Perkins age 26 R.R.#2 Montgomery whose death occurred April 25-1951 will be held at 2p.m. Sunday in the V.L. Poindexter Chapel.
Rev. Harold Miles will be in charge of the services and interment will be in Bethany Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9:30a.m. Saturday.
Cpl. Perkins was the son of Elmer and Ruth(Godwin) Perkins both living and was born Jan. 19-1925 in Daviess County. He spent his entire life in this community until he entered the Armed Forces in 1945.
Cpl. Perkins served with the 24th. Infantry Division. He graduated from Alfordsville High School in 1950 completing the education he began before entering the service.
In addition to his parents he leaves these brothers and sisters. Mrs. Beryl England,Plainville - Meridith Perkins, of city - Mrs. Escal Hellums and Mrs. Wanda Hellums both of Loogootee and John Perkins at home. Burial was Feb. 3-1952.
